Charlene Wisdom

Executive Director

Charlene Wisdom is the executive director for Solstice Senior Living at Groton and has more than a decade of senior living experience. Prior to her work in senior living communities, Charlene worked in public relations and broadcast production in Dallas, Texas. As executive director, she is responsible for managing community operations, fostering local relationships, and overseeing Solstice at Groton’s successful Elevate and Vibrant Life® programs. Her passion is creating the best environment for seniors to thrive.

Angela Fustini

Business Office Director

Angela Fustini joined the Solstice at Groton team in 2011. After transitioning from working with students to seniors, she quickly realized that senior living is her true calling. Angela is passionate about creating the best possible experience for seniors residing at the community. When she is not in her office, Angela can frequently be found enjoying a resident program, cooking, reading, taking photographs and spending time with her family. One of Angela’s favorite quotes is “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.”

Kelly Gentile

Vibrant Life Director

Kelly Gentile grew up on a small farm in North Stonington, Connecticut. It was there that she learned the importance of family. Kelly is a mother, a grandmother and one of 12 children. She treasures time with her loved ones and considers her children and grandchildren her greatest achievements in life. In her free time, Kelly enjoys reading historical romance novels and traveling the world. She loves working in senior living and hearing all about the residents’ lives. Kelly’s role model is her mother, and she tries to live by her example.

Cynthia Montano

Director of Sales and Marketing

As the director of Sales and Marketing, Cynthia Montano partners with the leadership team to grow the Solstice brand. After spending decades working in business development and account management, owning a successful restaurant, and more, Cynthia realized that she found true satisfaction in connecting with people. She believes the most precious gift you can give another is your time and attention. In her personal time, Cynthia is an active member of the Connecticut Center for Spiritual Living and a volunteer for Hospice.

Joeanna Gomez


Joeanna Gomez is a native of New London, Connecticut, and attends Three Rivers Community College. As a concierge at Solstice at Groton, she works with the residents daily, assisting with questions, helping with directions and serving as a compassionate listener. Joeanna plans to finish her degree in criminal justice while working at Solstice.

Mike Scognamiglio

Culinary Services Director

Mike Scognamiglio graduated with an accounting degree from Central Connecticut State University and has been in the culinary industry since 1995. Mike spent 20 years as an accountant, until he was inspired to change his career path. Mike’s culinary career has been quite successful in that time. He started as an owner-operator of a lunch and breakfast counter, and then was an accomplished line cook for a fine-dining casino restaurant. In 2008, Mike transitioned to Solstice at Groton as a line cook. His admirable work with Solstice earned him numerous promotions and a variety of awards, such as the Holiday Retirement Touch of Excellence Award and the Culinary Achievement Award. In 2018, he was officially promoted to culinary services director. He has worked hard to improve meal presentation and quality while reducing costs and expenses. Mike currently resides in New London and enjoys traveling and fishing in his free time.
